From on high, I see a star shine bright.
I do wonder where it leads me this night.
Follow me say I to a weary flock of sheep.
This night is cold, and we shall not sleep.
I am just a poor young shepherd.
On this night I seek fair warmth for my herd.
Follow me say I for warmth and hay awaits.
A cozy manger shall be our fate.
As we bed upon the hay this night.
In from the cold strangers here we invite.
Rest thee gently, I see that you are with child.
Among us be safe here from the wild.
Of myself I give to serve your need.
In this manger man and beast, we do cede.
Rest thee gently bring forth a child so pure.
And hope vile ways will not be endured.
On this night wise men follow a star.
Bearing gifts for a savior born afar.
In a manger lies a child in Bethlehem.
To rise above the lion lies a lamb.
I am just a shepherd of no worth.
On this night I bare witness to a birth.
In a manger lies a babe in Bethlehem.
To rise above the lion lies a lamb.
In a manger lies a babe in Bethlehem.
